Idler Sprockets

Idler sprockets are used in several different fashions within a chain drive. The most common functions of an idler are to take up slack, provide clearance, guide chain through direction changes and help reduce vibration. Normally roller chain idler sprockets will be installed in a fixed position to a tension arm.
