ShieldX® Roller Chain

Nitro developed the ShieldX® roller chain as a solution for applications requiring increased corrosion protection coupled with the high-strength of carbon steel chain. The ShieldX coating is a water-based, zinc & aluminum flake coating that creates a strong barrier to corrosion in environments containing seawater, salt, high-humidity, organic solvents and more. The coating is free from toxic metals like Chromium, Nickel, Cadmium, Lead, Barium and Mercury, which meet the requirements of RoHS, ELV and REACH regulations.

Why is ShieldX® Better?

The durable, impact resistant coating simply outperforms all moisture-proof plated chains in wide range of environments. The coating is applied to every individual part prior to assembly to ensure all surface areas are thoroughly covered for achieving maximum protection. Another added benefit is the coating is self repairing, which comes from zinc oxides and carbonates that migrate to the damaged surface to restore barrier protection.

On top of the superior corrosion protection, the ShieldX chain is constructed from our latest generation chain, the N2 Series, which offers superior wear resistance and fatigue strength. This includes our new cold forged solid rollers & solid bushings that offers up to 2x-3x the service life over competitors split bushing chains.

Environmental Benefits:

The coating is completely chromium-free (Unlike Dacromet roller chains) and does not contain toxic metals like Nickel, Cadmium, Lead, Barium and Mercury. Complies with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The coating is derived from water based chemistry making it free from dangerous solvents.
